Team Expansion: Celebrating 40 Years!
The idea for Team Expansion was born in 1978, during a small prayer meeting in a men’s dorm room at a Bible college in Eastern Kentucky. There were eight guys in that room that night. All of us signed our names to a world map. I happened to sign beside the country of Uruguay. Four (short) years later, Team Expansion fielded its first team, to Uruguay, by God’s grace. The rest, as they say, is history. Along the way, there have been changed lives, new churches, baptisms, new groups, and lots of training.
At last month’s Connect Gathering (read more about this below), we celebrated lots of fun memories from the past 40 years. Watch a video about our 40 years by clicking the image.
EMERALD HILLS | CAMPUS UPDATE
As far as a ‘home base’ goes, International Services first operated out of Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio until 1997 when we moved to Louisville at the invitation of Southeast Christian Church. From 1997 until March 2009, we operated out of a little saltbox building that had functioned for 150 years as a Presbyterian church house. When we moved to Emerald Hills in 2009, we could finally breathe again.
We just finished up a Kairos course downstairs. For the two weeks prior to that, we had a dozen or so new missionaries here on campus in a training program we call "Launch." Next, there’s a training program called Jonathan Training, which prepares workers for making and multiplying disciples. There are meetings, gatherings, special events, plus all the normal work by the 20 – 25 International Services Staff.
Obviously, none of this would happen without God, great donors, and amazing prayer partners like you. Thank you for your 40 years of partnership!
