Vision 2020
Equip. Empower.
Eastern Dominican Christian Mission (EDCM) exists to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus Christ by making disciples and forming those disciples into congregations. Since the founding of the mission in 2003, EDCM has maintained its focus to plant churches in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic and help lead those churches to self-sufficiency. This goal is being accomplished primarily by two words:
Equip and Empower.
Equip
EDCM equips the local leadership with the tools necessary to lead a congregation and to make disciples.
Empower
EDCM empowers the local leadership by allowing them to lead the local congregation without fear of failure. Once the local leadership is equipped and feels empowered to lead, the local congregation becomes “self-sufficient.”
EDCM currently has eight primary areas of ministry which are all led by nationals: Dominicans or Haitians.
- La Romana Christian Church
- Punta Cana Christian Church
- Higuey Christian Church
- Ana Mulla Christian Church (Haitian)
- Otra Banda Christian Church (Haitian)
- Colegio Color Esperanza: Christian School associated with Punta Cana Christian Church
- RL Ministerios: Christian music ministry
- Brisas del Mar: Medical outreach
While we are very grateful for all that God has done through EDCM, we also believe that there is a lot more work to be done. Therefore, we are casting VISION 2020, which is a clear vision leading us through the year 2020.
VISION 2020
Vision 2020 is a clear vision of the goals EDCM has set to accomplish through the year 2020.
- Church Plants
- Continued empowerment and overseeing of our current five church plants and the local leadership
- New Church Plants: planting at least two new churches with graduates of the Bible Institute in the Eastern part of the DR
- Brisas del Mar (Medical Outreach)
- Expansion of our current medical outreach to include spiritual development
- RL Ministries
- Expansion of RL Ministries- Christian music to the United States as well as throughout Latin America
- Colegio Color Esperanza (Punta Cana School)
- Continued guidance for the school in Punta Cana. Continue developing the school as an evangelistic resource and continue with healthy educational focus
As the result of these successful ministries and establishment of VISION 2020, EDCM will also be restructuring its leadership. First of all, EDCM will continue empowering the local leadership by encouraging them to continue leading the currentministries.
Secondly, after serving in the Dominican Republic and Costa Rica for nine years, Ryan and Erin VandeLinde, along with their three small children, will be relocating to the United States to continue their ministry with EDCM. As of September 1, 2017, the VandeLinde family will be leaving their full-time residence in the Dominican Republic and setting up residence in Virginia, where Ryan will assume the following responsibilities for EDCM:
- Represent EDCM
- Represent EDCM stateside by visiting supporting congregations on a regular basis
- Preach, teach and share with any congregation throughout the year
- Attend ICOM and the North American Convention to represent EDCM
- Establish Bible Institute
- Develop the partnership and curriculum with and “El Centro de Entrenamiento de Liderazgo” (an online Bible Institute)
- Oversee the organization of the Institute (concerning the Dominican students)
- Teach in the Institute (online and in person)
- Recruit national leaders and future leaders and ministers
- Fundraising
- Raise necessary funds for the new ministries of EDCM
- Oversee the Eight Primary Ministries
- Help national leaders set obtainable goals and reach those goals
- Continue pastoring the national ministers
- Help provide the tools necessary for the national ministers to have success
- Equip, Empower, Encourage and Evaluate the national leaders
- Dominican Republic
- Return to the Dominican Republic several times a year to encourage, evaluate, equip and empower EDCM’s ministries
- Participate in several short-term mission trips annually
As Eastern Dominican Christian Mission continues to grow and move forward, we thank you for your faithful partnership and willingness to help us achieve our goal of VISION 2020. If you have any questions, feel free to email Ryan VandeLinde at ryanvandelinde@hotmail.com.
May God bless you and your local congregation!

Equip. Empower.
Bible Institute
Beginning in January 2018, EDCM will be partnering with “El Centro de Entrenamiento de Liderazgo,” which is an online bible institute provided through the Christian Church mission Disciple Makers.
This Institute will help equip and empower national leaders by focusing on three main areas:
The Head
We will partner with El Centro de Entrenamiento de Liderazgo offering five college level bible courses. This will provide each student with the biblical knowledge he/she needs to teach and preach in the local congregation.
The Heart
EDCM will offer several seminars throughout the year focusing on the heart of a minister. We will equip each student with the tools necessary to maintain a healthy spiritual life, a healthy marriage and a deep connection with Christ while being a minister in a local congregation.
The Hands
This is the application of the previously learned material. We will equip each student with relevant information concerning organizing a worship service, handling church finances and basic leadership skills. We will offer them opportunities to put into practice everything they have learned in the institute.
Details
Cost: $1,000 per student for the two year program
This will include:
A new laptop
Logos Bible Software in Spanish
All online bible classes
All books digital and printed
All live classes taught in the Dominican Republic
Will you sponsor a student?
We are looking for churches/individuals to sponsor a student to help cover the majority of the cost of the bible institute. We ask that you pray about partnering with us to help Equip and Empower the future leaders of EDCM.
If interested in sponsoring a student or if you would like more information, please contact Ryan VandeLinde at:
