Dear Friends and Supporters
GHANA
National Easter Convention
The National Easter Convention of independent Christian Churches which met at Nkwanta, Ghana from Thursday April 13 through Sunday April 16 was well attended. The theme was “Fight the Good Fight of Faith.” Donations and convention fees covered the expenses with some funds left over to support the new fellowship for independent Christian Churches. In addition to the preaching and teaching sessions, there were some baptisms.
Godfred Mintah, Director of the Christian Leadership Training Institute, surveyed the new building lot purchased in Tamale. A house and office for the Supervisor of TEE will be constructed on the lot in the future. We have $28,000 raised toward our goal of $50,000 needed to purchase a 4X4 pickup and settle the new supervisor in northern Ghana where we have the greatest need and the greatest opportunity. The new Supervisor will assist church planters in developing leadership for newly planted congregations among unreached people groups.
NIGERIA
All congregations observed the annual Youth Week in March with activities and training sessions. Youth of the Calabar congregation did evangelism, gave assistance to those in need and gave assistance to patients in the General Hospital at Calabar. They closed the week with worship, dramas and a panel discussion on the topic of “LIVE IT AS YOU PREACH IT.”
Regional retreats were held during the Easter break on April 14 through 16. The Fame clinic at Ekori has a new doctor, Dr. Eno Obone. A three-day free clinic was held the first of May to introduce the new doctor. The construction of a Nursery School at the Calabar church compound is progressing well. We still need $30,000 to insure that this project is completed.
PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUESTS:
1. Thank God for the successful Easter Convention and retreats in Ghana and Nigeria.
2. Thank God for the faithful youth of Nigeria.
3. Thank God for the funds raised for our two projects this year: $28,000 for a new Supervisor for TEE in Ghana and $20,000 for the nursery school in Nigeria.
4. Ask God to proved the needed funds to complete the above mentioned projects.
5. Pray for the youth of Africa as they face many challenges in a changing culture that is influenced by both past traditions and modern technology and all the temptations that come through them.
6. Pray for our youth in American as they face many temptations through electronic media and a culture that encourages them to follow their sinful nature.
7. Pray for all Christian Congregations that they will remain faithful to God’s Word, the Bible, in the face of pressure to compromise in order to please the world.
