I’ve (Greg) been meaning to update everyone on the progress here in Descartes for a few weeks. To be honest there was a lot I wanted to say that not much I could say.
It seemed like every time we thought we had something firm going on it either fell through or got complicated.
Such
is
life.
Rarely do we go through moments where everything just falls into place beautifully.
Then something happens.
It
just
works.
We worried a little, laughed a lot, I might have shed a tear or two, but in the end everything works.
So what is everything?
We have formally reached an agreement to have our church services take place in the Grenier à Sel (the building we’ve told you about in the past) every Sunday starting October 16th. This will be a weekend rental agreement so we needed to also find an office that was suitable for welcoming people of all ages and all ranges of mobility.
We looked and looked and found an office right next to this building that will work beautifully for us. Work starts tomorrow morning at 8.30am (2.30am east coast) and we hope to have the office fully renovated by the end of the month.
This office space is visible, located in the center of town and very close to many other well known businesses. We hope to be a positive part of Descartes.
After a few months of what felt like pulling teeth and waiting finished with a flourish and now we can move on to the next phase of craziness.
We also launched our first fundraising campaign for our campus in Descartes. Click
HERE to download and view the information. This campaign is for monthly donors for the church plant. Another option would to give toward a current project we have which is helping purchase chairs. Simple goal: 1,000 euros ($1,200) purchases 55 chairs. That’s roughly $24 per chair. Funding information for this can also be found in the document linked above.
We invite you to ask questions and learn more about what God is doing here in France and specifically about here in Descartes. It’s a topic we really enjoy!
The idea of resting in Jesus (that’s hyperbole) never sounded so amazing. But it really is wonderful to get those steps under our belt. In the mean time, we continue to meet new people, discuss our life and continue to discover who we are in this new culture.
