THANKFUL FOR EDUCATION

FAME Scholarship Recipient, Genesis from Honduras

One of FAME’s sustainable projects that FAME is blessed to be a part of, is our scholarship program. The FAME Impact Scholarship Program provides scholarship money to international students studying for a medical profession. Students must study in their home country and be sponsored by a missionary partner. Upon graduation, students will serve with the missionary partner for a minimum of two years.

Currently, FAME is supporting eight students in six different countries. Recently we received the following from FAME scholarship recipient, Genesis who is studying Microbiology in Honduras.

“It is a pleasure to greet you, wishing blessings to each one of the people that form part of this organization, that our God day by day gives you strength and wisdom to carry out this great work. I am pleased to inform you about my experience, this first period of the 2016 academic year, in which period I passed my classes successfully. …….This semester was a great challenge, but I am happy to tell you the joy I have for having passed.

I thank first of all God, and your organization, since thanks to your help I can continue my studies and I ask God to continue blessing you in this great project.“

COMMUNITY HEALTH EVANGELISM TRAINING 2016

FAME is excited to host two CHE (Community Health Evangelism) TOT1 Trainings this fall for those who want to learn steps for implementing CHE, how to choose a target community and strategies for entering the community. This phase of training is aimed at understanding the Biblical basis for CHE and basic principles of wholistic community- based development. Participants learn basic skills for raising awareness, organizing, and mobilizing the community for cooperative action. Upcoming trainings will be held September 11-15 at Camp Allendale in Trafalgar, IN, and October 8 -11 at Lincolnway Christian Church in New Lenox, IL.

GOD IS MOVING IN HONDURAS!

In late May, our team of 9 went to Honduras to work with His Eyes for a week. We had 4 medical brigade days, and on each traveled to a church that His Eyes had started. In the mornings, we did medical education with a Power Point presentation, and in the afternoons saw patients.

As reinforcement of the education, we helped each person make a bag of ingredients for an ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) bottle. One of the children seen had an extremely high fever, and we were able to get treatment started immediately.

On other days, we helped deliver food to needy families, helped with the children of the ‘Milk Project’ program, and visited the hospital to see patients in the orthopedics and neurology wards. We donated many medicines and supplies to be used at the His Eyes clinic in Tegucigalpa. The Milk Project is a wonderful program for the poorest children near the clinic, and they get a daily meal in addition to Christian education.

God is definitely moving in Honduras. (read more)
