Dear Friends and Supporters
FREE BOOK
I just published a Theological Education by Extension (TEE) course on the Restoration Movement titled “Keep The Restoration Movement Going.” The Restoration Movement is a grassroots movement that keeps us focused on the Word of God. These lessons can be used for leadership development, Bible study, small groups, Sunday School and personal study. The course consists of 19 lessons covering historical background, Restoration Movement principles, politics in the church and the Christian world view.
The book is available in two ways. You can print it free of charge by going to our website, or you can order copies for $6.00 each plus shipping. You can download and print the PDF file by going to grassrootsld.org. Scroll toward the bottom of the home page and follow the instructions under the title FREE BOOK. Pass out a lesson one week before it will be discussed. Encourage participants to complete the lesson before class and be prepared to discuss things that catch their attention.
GHANA:
WOMEN ENRICHMENT SEMINARS
Women Enrichment seminar at Saboba
Victoria Surugu and Godfred Mintah held Women Enrichment Seminars in Northern Ghana throughout the month of June. It was one continuous trip from June 2 through July 1 covering 1,700 miles. Beatrice Ofori was unable to go because of illness. The topics covered were teenage pregnancy, parenting style and overcoming obstacles in times of hardship based on the book of Ruth. At Saboba, a woman testified that her husband is now a strong Christian as a result of her following advice given in previous seminars. At Tatindo, a former Muslim woman is now an active Christian and attends the church with her children due to the influence of previous seminars.
NIGERIA: PEACE RESTORED
Church leaders with tribal chief
We thank God that there is now peace in the area where we reported a crisis in the last update. Soldiers, pastors, men, women and children were killed in a dispute over control of farm land. Schools, hospitals and homes were set on fire. Church leaders united with tribal authorities to bring peace. The churches invested much time and money in the region. People listened to their plea because Christians showed the love of Jesus by feeding the hungry and treating the wounded. We thank those who sent financial help for this Christian witness.
PRAISE AND PRAYER REQUESTS:
1. Thank God that there is now peace in the region of Nigeria where dispute over farm land brought about death and destruction.
2. Thank God for the generous gifts toward relief efforts by the churches in Nigeria during the above mentioned crisis.
3. Thank God for the successful women enrichment seminars in Ghana during the month of June.
4. Thank God that the debt of Ivory Coast Christian Mission has been reduced from $19,500 to $8,000 due to generous gifts.
5. Pray that the above debt will be completely paid by the end of this year.
6. Continue to pray for the Christian Churches in Ghana as they face a split over the form of church government.
7. Pray for the election of government Leaders in the United States.
