What we’re reading
After long-term applicants are accepted as recruits with CMF, what does preparation for the field look like? The first step for new CMF recruits is to attend Launch, a two-and-a-half day orientation to CMF and support-raising training. While at Launch, each recruit has the opportunity to talk one-on-one with his Strategy Area Director and to learn more about his role on the field. Recruits also meet the CMF staff members who will help them prepare for service.
Another part of their preparation involves reading the book, “The Spirituality of Fundraising,” by Henri Nouwen. This short book expounds on Nouwen’s belief that fundraising is a form of ministry. He challenges readers with thoughts such as this: “Fundraising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and ministry.”
