FEBRUARY 2016

  • Cathylee has been at RESTORE for a couple of months now and jumped right into serving. Cathylee finds her identity in doing good things and going to church. Please pray with us that she would fall in love with Jesus and find her identity in Him.  Pray that we have more opportunities to invest in her life.
  • Over the last several months, we have been praying for Magda.  Magda is a single mom who fled domestic abuse and lives in a shelter with her son Jacob.  Very recently, a man at RESTORE named Bob gave Magda a car!  This met a huge need in her life!  With the help of many people, we were able to pay for fees and insurance for a year.  Bob’s mechanic friend also donated about $3000 in parts and labor.  The mechanic, Jimmy, was very touched by this and decided to come to RESTORE last Sunday!  Please pray that God continues to move in Magda’s life, and pray for Jimmy’s salvation.
  • We met Shawn a couple of weeks ago. Shawn had just moved to New England to join her fiance’ Jeff who relocated for work. She is from the Saint Louis area and we were quick to bond over a shared love for IMO’s pizza, Cardinals baseball, and the challenges of moving to a new city. In an odd way, we’re thankful for the homesickness that Shawn is currently experiencing. She was quick to join a HomeGroup, and we’ve had the opportunity to get to hear more and more of her story each week. Right now, her fiance Jeff is in Maine for a month working a job site. As you can imagine, she’s been battling homesickness and now loneliness. Join us in praying for our new friend, that she can continue to grow in her relationship with Jesus, will discover peace in community, for her relationship with Jeff as they prepare for marriage, and for wisdom as she navigates a new job.

NorthPointe Christian Church

  • Bela is a freshman in high school who serves on our worship arts and kids teams every month. Her family has been coming to NP for quite some time, so we’ve been able to get to know them well. This past week Bela had a close friend pass away. She said there are not too many details they are sharing about it yet, but Bela said she was close enough to him that she believes she knows what happened. Be praying for her and the Woonsocket High School as they experience this tragedy. Pray that NP would be a safe and encouraging place for Bela and that God would work in this situation.
  • About a month ago Scott tore his bicep at work. He has worked in the manufacturing and installation of granite countertops for 25 years. This has been a financially and emotionally difficult time for him and his family.  Pray for the doctors’ wisdom as they help Scott’s arm heal, for his speedy recovery, and for the career-change transition for Scott to be able to provide for his family.
  • This past weekend we started a new series called Dancing in the Minefields.  We will take a look at marriages we find in scripture and explore what we can learn from their mistakes and successes. Pray for the relationships in our church. We’ve seen some break in the past two years, some resolve long standing disappointment and resentment. Pray that this series would help strengthen our families here in northern RI.

SouthPointe Christian Church

  • Tom is a key leader at SouthPointe. God has used him in extraordinary ways both inside and outside the church. His wife Sandy has Lyme Disease and is really struggling with her health. They are stretched financially and are experiencing fatigue. Pray for Tom to experience rest, as so much depends on him right now. Pray for God to provide for them. Pray for Sandy’s health. Pray for God to continue to use their witness in extraordinary ways.
  • Eric faithfully attends SouthPointe on Sundays and home group during the week, but he is struggling with addiction. People from SouthPointe have provided housing for Eric in a recent period of homelessness and an open door to a job in the midst of unemployment. However, he still has the same issues. Pray for God to help Eric kick his addiction.
  • Grace is an extraordinary leader at SouthPointe. She was living a life of addiction a few years ago, but she has come to know the grace of Jesus. She has baptized three people in the last year. Pray for God to continue to pour fuel on her fire and for her to baptize many more people in 2016!

OceanPointe Christian Church

  • Thank you for your faithful prayers concerning our buildout.  We are excited to see the changes every week. God has been so faithful in providing for us, and we are excited to see Him fill up this space with people seeking Him!
  • Jada started coming to services sporadically several months ago and has recently decided to make OceanPointe her church home. She has been out of work for about a year now while fighting for custody of her daughter, and she has been very discouraged. Our First Impressions team was recently seeking a dedicated coffee person for Sunday mornings, and Jada committed herself to this role because she’s wanting a way to give back to God! We thank God for Jada joining our volunteer team.  We ask that you join us in praying that Jada can find the job God has for her, can be reunited with her family, and will rise out of this depression.
  • A couple of weeks ago we had the honor of baptizing Peter, a 71-year-old man who knew he didn’t want to wait any longer to make this important decision for Christ. Peter had bad church experiences growing up, but over his life he discovered a need for his own faith. He started coming to OceanPointe services around Christmas and voiced his desire to be baptized to his granddaughter soon after. Join us in celebrating this man’s changed life and decision! We pray his story inspires others in our community to see that it’s never too late to follow Jesus!

BridgePointe Christian Church

  • Praise God for the many families and individuals we connected with during our Give Love Away (GLA) campaign in February.  GLA is a series of events that provide an opportunity for the church to share God’s love with our community. Events included giving free coffee and cocoa to the people downtown, delivering flowers and valentines to local assisted living facilities, serving under-resourced of Greater Providence, and painting a local recreation center. Pray that several families will check out a BridgePointe service in the near future.
  • Please pray for Tim and his future walk with Christ. Tim was recently baptized, and the day before he was fired from his job. Pray that God provides Tim with employment and that his next job causes him to love and trust Jesus even more.
  • Please pray for Felicia and Amanda who were recently baptized. Both come from a Catholic background and struggle with feelings of a need to earn God’s love. Both have also experienced difficulty sharing and celebrating their new found faith with family, as many are unsupportive. Pray that they find the community and affirmation they need from Christ and His Church.
