Dear co-laborers in God’s great harvest field, greetings from Coffee Country!

Colombian Culture Tidbit
January can be a bit slow here as the first part is used for vacations by many Colombians and the last part is used in getting ready for the beginning of the school year!  The Christmas season begins near the first part of December and carries on until “Kings’ Day” (which corresponds to Orthodox Christmas) the first part of January.  This whole time is used by many Colombians to travel, spend time with family and enjoy all kinds of festivities and activities.  It is, in many ways, similar to the summer months in the US where the kids are on vacation and people spend time at the lake, beach or in the mountains.

Answered Prayer
We requested prayers for David Solliday a while back.  We praise God that David was released from the hospital and is continuing his recovery at home.

Opportunities For Outreach
We moved to a new rental back in November.  The change of neighborhood has been very positive.  Instead of the continual roar of traffic, we actually hear birds in the morning and there is relative quiet where we can more easily pray and meditate on God’s word during our time in the office.  Also, we’ve found it much easier to reach out to our neighbors now.  Soon after we arrived several of them took the time to introduce themselves.   The new pup we picked up has also helped as they are fascinated to see how quickly she’s growing and how well she behaves to commands already.  Getting out to the park with the pup has given us many opportunities to interact with other dog owners and have conversations that often lead to matters of eternal importance. We praise God for this new place and the new opportunities to interact with people who need our Lord and Savior in their lives.

The Foundation
This year we started off teaching based on Jesus’ parables and other teachings, going back to the foundation if you will.  This gives us the opportunity to reenforce what our older members have been taught while helping newer folks to understand more about the underpinnings of the Christian faith and life in general.  We are also combining “the words in red” with what is taught on the same subjects in the rest of the New Testament, helping people to tie together both the gospels and the epistles.

Looking Forward
With the annual meeting coming up soon, we’re still laying out plans for the coming year.  There is a youth camp scheduled for June and there are several visits to different cities/congregations that need to be made.  Thank you for praying with us about these matters.

In Christ,

Paul and Sheri Moreland
