Nalia is the mother of 3 little ones. She has a small garden and makes ropes out of weaving together old feed bags. We asked Nalia what she hoped for. Looking around at her humble home she said, “I just want better than this for my family.”
Living in extreme poverty has often been defined as living without hope. Our team in Haiti has made it a point to ask each new farmer “What do you hope for?” Most often the answer is about hope for survival. After a few months in the program, our staff goes back and asks the same question. What do you hope for? It is amazing to see faces light up as they talk about hope for their future and dreams for their familiy.
