Come see us November 5-7 at the Global Missions Health Conference!
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn.”
                                                                        Isaiah 61:1-2

To be an ambassador for Christ, to join His cause by way of the Great Commission, is what He asks of each of us. No believer should ever feel that he or she is exempt. Jesus will not excuse those who refuse to play even a small part. A widow’s mite is just as valuable as a missionary on site. -Anonymous

Let’s consider the options…

Going
Excuses:
You are glad there are people who go, but you’ve never felt “called”. You don’t have a particular skill set or a talent that would qualify you. You can’t pull teeth or build a house and you don’t want to teach Vacation Bible School.

Reality:
We are commanded to “go and make disciples of all nations.” (Matthew 28:19)

Sending
Excuses:
You don’t even know any missionaries to support. Besides, doesn’t your church take care of that?

Reality:
We are to use our gifts to serve one another (1 Peter 4:10).
(2 Corinthians 9:6-7)
Exemption
Sorry not an option. In the body of believers, every one of us has a part to play.

As an Ambassador, we are to represent and promote Christ wherever we are. For some of us that could be on the foreign mission field short-term or long-term. For others, it will take place in our neighborhoods and offices. Perhaps your role is to be a sender, your financial support is greatly needed.

The Great Commission bids us go and make disciples. Whatever your role is (and you do have one!) do it in His name and for His glory.
