child sponsorship ministry
Be a sponsor…you won’t regret it!

For anyone who has thought, even briefly, about child sponsorship I say DO IT! For our family it has been a wonderful experience on several different levels.

Before I get too far let me say that the organization we sponsor through, Lifeline Christian Mission, has been a huge part of why we think it is a great choice for outreach and evangelism. With Lifeline you not only have regular opportunities to help your sponsor child, but you can actually go meet them! My girls look forward to the time they will get to meet Woodline (our sponsor kid in Haiti).

Sponsorship has led to so many teachable moments with our own kids. From what life in Haiti and the Navajo Reservation is like, to how God works through people like us to have an impact on others throughout the world.

This is one of the photos (bottom left) we received from Lifeline when they do gift distributions. It makes it so real for us; especially our girls when they can see the items they helped pick out being received by their “sister in Christ.” This has also been helpful for us as adults to make the connection to sponsorship: we are not giving to a faceless cause but to a real person who is benefiting from a wonderful Christian organization, thanks in part to people like us. Having been to Haiti and the Navajo Reservation (second photo), I understand why sponsorship is a sensible and powerful tool for evangelism, not just providing for physical needs. My family and I (third photo) are thankful for the opportunity to impact our world, maybe in a small but meaningful way, for the cause of Christ.

Praises
  • Praise God for a successful work team season!  Much ministry and work was accomplished.  Most importantly though, lives were changed through God’s power — both work team members and nationals.

  • The Third Saturday volunteer team was a huge blessing.  They had a big task to process 225 pantry gifts for Honduras and they met that challenge!  Thank you!  Learn more about volunteering with Lifeline.

On the road again…
The riders set off last Friday, August 14 to travel across the Midwest U.S., Central Canada, and the Rocky Mountains to bring awareness to the needs of the Haitian children and to raise donations for the ongoing operation of Lifeline’s Grand Goave Children’s Home.  Along the way they’ve met with churches, groups, and individuals to share the message and raise donations.

The journey continues until August 29. Please keep the ride in your prayers: for safety, receptive & generous hearts to those they meet with, and for an all-around great experience!

Prayer requests
  • Pray for Brian Snyder, our Navajo Ministry Administrator, as he begins classes for a Master’s Degree in Christian School Administration.

  • While the bulk of the work team season has concluded, there are two more teams scheduled in Haiti this fall: the annual men’s trip (September 29 – October 8) and the Haiti family trip (October 10 – 18).  Please pray for those who will be a part of these trips, that they will be used by God for his glory in the ministry in Grand Goave.
  • Your contributions are at work! Construction is coming along well for the Grand Goave, Haiti church and school.  Pray for continued safety and speed in completing these projects.  School move-in is less than a month away and there are 80 excited 7th grade students eagerly awaiting the first day of school.  A pictorial update will be coming next week.  Thanks for your prayers and financial assistance! God is good.

  • The 35th anniversary for the Grand Goave Christian Church (Haiti) was on August 16!  A multi-church celebration is being planned for November 2; more prayer please.

  • We’re almost half way there! As you may recall, there is a great need for a “people mover” type van/bus in Honduras.  It’s needed to use with work teams and for school/church functions.  We praise God that one of our supporting churches has stepped up and is providing $20,000 of the needed $43,000.  The 23 passenger vehicle is available now and the need is now.  Please be a part of God’s answer to help fill this need; contact Bob@Lifeline.org.  The Honduran brethren are praying for your decision to help.
