Prayer Pointes – November 2015

RESTORE Christian Church

Alex is a young woman who is new to everything Christian: the church, the Bible, prayer, Bible study, etc. However, over the last few months she has found a joy in Christ that she can’t contain. Alex has been through a lot with her mother and sister, and recently lost her grandmother. The loss of her grandmother was what caused her to make a life change. Please pray for Alex to continue to have a passion for knowing Jesus more. Also pray that He would use her to be a light to her mother and sister.  Pray for her fiancé who comes with her every week as well; he has anxiety that holds him back from being all in and meeting new people.

Bob is new to personal faith and a church like ours.  He is excited to be at RESTORE and has been studying the Bible and faith a lot lately.  Pray that he doesn’t lose his passion for growing closer to God and going deeper in his faith.  Also pray that he quickly becomes invested in our church family.

Andrea is a young, single mom who is just now discovering church for the first time.  She loves RESTORE and stuck around to attend our first Discover RESTORE event after the worship gathering this past Sunday.  As she heard us talking about our core beliefs, specifically about Jesus and salvation, she came up to us afterwards to tell us that she is ready to be baptized!  We are going to meet with her and her daughter to walk through the Bible’s teaching on it in the hopes that her daughter, Katrina, will make the same decision.  Pray for Andrea and Katrina, as well as the family members they are planning on inviting to the baptism.

NorthPointe Christian Church

Please pray for Scott as he recovers from a torn bicep muscle. Scott is a leader in our worship ministry and a hard worker at his job where they produce granite countertops. Scott and his wife struggle financially, but always have faith that the Lord will provide. Recently, Scott’s wife, Brenda, had a biopsy done. On the day of the results, which came back negative, Scott tore his bicep muscle at work and will be out for the next several weeks. Please pray for a quick recovery and that they will be able to make it during these tough financial times.

Please pray for Ckarla. Ckarla works at Thundermist, a health care provider for low-income families and one of our community partners. Through our partnership, Ckarla started attending NorthPointe and is now a part of a community group. Over the past few weeks, Ckarla has really opened up about her life and her desire to follow Jesus. Please pray that God continues to work in Ckarla’s life and that she makes a decision to follow Him!

Please pray for Peggy who just recently started attending NorthPointe. Peggy used to attend church regularly, but wandered from her faith over the last several years. A friend told her about NorthPointe so she decided to give it a try and has been back ever since. Peggy shared with me about some guilt that she wrestles with and a deep desire to feel closer to the Lord again. Please pray for God to meet Peggy where she is and that His grace becomes overwhelming to her!

SouthPointe Christian Church

Kristen is my (Tanner) friend from Rotary. She owns her own spiritual wellness practice and has no church background. I’ve been praying for her for months. Last Sunday she showed up at church. I had not ever explicitly invited her, but she just came on her own. Pray that Kristen comes to know Jesus.

Dennis is another friend from Rotary. He owns a business and lives in Warwick. His son is grown, and now Dennis lives alone. He has not been in church in 50 years prior to SouthPointe. Now, he comes both on Sundays and to home group nearly every week. Pray that he takes the next step in his faith journey by committing to Christ.

Victor is a new friend who works for one of our community partners. He does not consider himself a “religious” person, but he loves what SouthPointe is all about. He frequently shares our Facebook statuses and is very encouraging. Pray that Victor will come to know Jesus.

BridgePointe Christian Church

Tim and Tina came to BridgePointe 5 months ago, new to faith and eager to learn. They have taken many steps toward Jesus and are now preparing to make a commitment to Jesus through baptism in a couple weeks. Please pray that they have courage to continue in their faith and that they surrender their relationship to Christ to honor Him in marriage.

We have several couples who are pursuing or are in need of couples counseling due to conflict or crisis. Please pray that God would restore marriages and families through this church. Pray for God to help us identify counselors and support networks for people in need.

BridgePointe is partnering with the East Providence Rotary to host a Coat Giveaway on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Please pray that many families from the community come to our building to receive free coats, hats, gloves, and scarves and discover the love of Jesus through us.

OceanPointe Christian Church

We had the privilege of baptizing three people on Sunday, November 8th! Kevin, Jocelyn, and Jason all chose to be obedient to Jesus’ call to baptism, and we got to celebrate this decision with them. We have more baptisms planned for Thanksgiving weekend, so please join us in praying that even more hearts will be stirred to take one step closer to the Lord.

Please be praying for Abigail and her family. She recently discovered that her husband was leading a double life with a whole other family, and she’s had to start all over with her two sons. Abigail is fighting so hard to protect her two boys and make the best life for them here, but this is a tough battle. Please pray that God would give her strength and wisdom, as well as healing for her heart in the midst of this struggle.

We are praising God for the success of our Halloween “Light the Night” outreach and the ensuing Peanuts Movie screenings! We handed out 2,304 candy bars on Halloween with invitations to free screenings of The Peanuts Movie, and then had 645 people see the movie with us on Tuesday, November 10th. We had the chance to demonstrate the irrational generosity our church holds at its core, and we’ve already seen many new faces on Sunday mornings as a result of these events! We pray for continued favor with God and man as we strive to reach our community for Christ.

Please be praying for our upcoming Operation: Turkey Sandwich, an outreach event we’re carrying out again with two other local churches where we’ll deliver a homemade packed lunch to people who have to work on Thanksgiving Day. Last November the churches handed out over 600 meals, and we’re hoping to do more this year! Please be praying that this event will demonstrate to people in our community how much God and His Church love them.
