Please pray for Anthony
Anthony is a second year student at Central Philippines Bible College in Cebu. He is the roommate of Junior our student from Kalibo and wants to be a preacher. His aunt offered to pay for a secular education but he wants to be a preacher and so declined her offer and now struggles to pay the rising expenses of Bible College in Cebu.
He is a very athletic young man and has a special interest. That interest is expressed in committing to memory many Bible selections and passages! He has committed over 300 passages to memory and still counting. He started doing this when he became a Christian in his home island of Mindanao. His home town of Zamboanga is a hot bed for ISIS type terrorists that last week killed 10 people in that town in a major massacre. This is their style and it is increasing in the Philippines now that election time in May 2016 draws near.
Tragedy stuck home when he learned a couple of days ago about the death of his father.
It seems that his father, who was only 47 years of age, was walking near his home with Anthony’s mother and one year old sibling on the road. A motorbike pulled up and the passenger shot his father several times. His mother grabbed his brother and jumped into the thick brush close to the road and was spared death from the volley of bullets. The driver sped away and the police are treating it as one of the many random killings so prevalent in the Philippines now and over past years. They do not know the reason or the killer.
Anthony has left college for the moment to organize the funeral and help his mother and family in this tragedy. Junior gave him some money from his small allowance to help with the fare back to this island that is two days from Cebu and in an Islamic hot zone. It was a show of mercy and love on Juniors’ part and a good ideal for a young future preacher we hope Junior becomes.
Please pray for Anthony as the funeral approaches. Please pray for him as he witnesses to his parents and family who are not Christians. Please pray for him so that he will be able to return to Bible College and continue his to study because of his passion for lost souls.
God does heal all wounds and we pray for his healing mercies for Anthony and the burdens he faces in the future. Thank you for your prayers on his behalf. We have met him and know he has a strong faith and resolve.
If any of you could send a gift to help Anthony in this situation or help with his future Bible College expenses please send these to our Forwarding Agent and we will be sure that he gets this much needed help. His family is very poor and is affected by the Islamic unrest in his home island as well.
