REACH 2016: Infuse

Twenty-seven young men and women are serving in 10 countries with various CMF missionaries and ministries for eight weeks this summer as part of the REACH summer internship program. After five days of pre-departure orientation in Indianapolis, these interns are now involved in everything from ministering to Buddhist Thai college students to assisting with a widows and orphans project. This summer’s theme is Infuse, and we pray that each REACH intern will infuse his new surroundings and friends with the enthusiasm, compassion, hope, and love that God has put into them. Pray with us for these 27 interns!

Meet Isaac + Sally

Isaac Tandy has felt drawn to serve the people of Brazil since childhood, and he has had the opportunity to work there on two previous occasions. Isaac’s passion for ministry in Brazil overflowed to Sally, bringing to life in her own heart a call to live and minister there. After several attempts to go as independent missionaries, the Lord led them to partner with CMF. Isaac and Sally are excited for their future service as their family of four prepares to support and encourage local pastors and congregations in northeastern Brazil.

Where could I serve?

You can look at all our updated personnel needs here: Personnel Needs. If none of the urgent personnel needs seem like a good fit for you, we’re happy to talk about other opportunities that might be a good match. Some current needs include the following:

Field Business Administrator: Ivory Coast

An individual knowledgeable in accounting is needed to use his or her skills in managing ministry funds in Ivory Coast. This individual would help oversee funds used by the CMF team and medical clinic. An established team already on the ground uses Community Health Evangelism (CHE), including expansion into micro-enterprise projects. This individual would assist in micro-enterprise efforts, helping to expand the CHE ministry as a whole. They are looking for an individual who can make a four-year commitment. A background in accounting or finance is preferred but not required.

Church Planters: Mexico

CMF’s church catalyst team is looking for church planters ready to help implement strategies for church planting movements that focus strongly on discipleship. The team strives to plant churches in Mexico through discipleship and the equipping of nationals. Pre-field training will include T4T along with other church multiplication training. Individuals will be mentored by an experienced missionary after completing language study. Previous ministry experience preferred. The team is looking for individuals willing to make a one- to four-year commitment.

Reveal Missionary

Several CMF teams would love for a Reveal Missionary to spend four to nine months gaining real life experience on the field while being guided, mentored, and counseled by the missionaries and Christian nationals. Participating in an intentional environment allows time for God to reveal if you are a good fit for long-term service on the mission field. Find out more about Reveal, click here.

What we’re reading

After long-term applicants are accepted as recruits with CMF, what does preparation for the field look like? The first step for new CMF recruits is to attend Launch, a two-and-a-half day orientation to CMF and support-raising training. While at Launch, each recruit has the opportunity to talk one-on-one with his Strategy Area Director and to learn more about his role on the field. Recruits also meet the CMF staff members who will help them prepare for service.

Another part of their preparation involves reading the book, “The Spirituality of Fundraising,” by Henri Nouwen. This short book expounds on Nouwen’s belief that fundraising is a form of ministry. He challenges readers with thoughts such as this: “Fundraising is proclaiming what we believe in such a way that we offer other people an opportunity to participate with us in our vision and ministry.”
